Aberdeen City Council is in talks with the World Rally Championship (WRC) over bringing the hugely popular race series to the Granite City.
Council officials are negotiating a deal with Motorsport UK that could bring the iconic championships to the North-east for three years, starting in 2026.
The talks, The Press and Journal reports, were revealed by finance convener Alex McLellan during yesterday's local authority budget meeting.
If a deal can be reached, it would be the the really championship has come to Scotland in more than 30 years.
Councillor McLellan estimated the event could pump more than £80million into the city's economy.
