Work to get underway later this year on extended conference and events facilities at The Chester Hotel, Aberdeen

Conferences and events at Aberdeen’s only AA four star silver rated hotel are about to get even bigger. The Chester Hotel, set in the city’s fashionable west end, is to undergo a major expansion, leading to increased function suite capacity.

The extension of the Granite Suite, which already has its own dedicated private entrance and bar facilities, will increase maximum numbers from the current limit of 200 delegates to 320 for a conference set up.

Work on the extension plans, which represent a significant investment by The Chester Hotel, will get underway in late December 2018 and will be completed in spring. The hotel will continue to operate as normal during the construction work, but the ballroom with be closed for several months early in the new year.

Stephen Gow, general manager of The Chester Hotel, says, “The Chester Hotel has become one of the region’s leading corporate events venues, and although we are already one of the largest venues in the city, the decision to expand was made in response to a growing number of enquiries from event organisers looking for a quality venue with increased capacity.

“This will give us one of the biggest hotel event spaces in Aberdeen, and we believe it will fill a significant gap in the market. However, the flexibility that we can offer with various configurations for the ballroom – in addition to our private dining rooms – allows us to host events of all sizes.”

The extended facilities will allow for a maximum of 400 people in a drinks reception, 320 for a dinner dance, 340 for dinner, and 400 in a theatre setting.

The Granite Suite is highly adaptable in terms of layout, whether hosts are looking to stage a small conference or board meeting or a gala dinner. In addition to the elegant, modern surroundings, the space offers the very latest in technology, including built-in projectors, screens and speakers.

Portable screens and projectors are available for breakout rooms away from the main area, and all lighting can be set by touch-screen controls to suit the mood. There is also complimentary high-speed WiFi in the ballroom and the wider hotel.

For very small gatherings, The Chester Hotel has private dining rooms adjacent to its main IX Restaurant, including the stunning Granite Balcony. This space holds a maximum of 24 for lunch or dinner, or 16 in a boardroom set-up.

Based at 59-63 Queen’s Road, Aberdeen, The Chester Hotel has 50 luxurious bedrooms and suites and a stylish bar and restaurant. For further information, visit the Chester Hotel website.
