Work has begun on the new £50m Aberdeen Market with the development set to open next year.
Council bosses confirmed on Wednesday that work to tear down what's left of the old BHS department store is getting underway.
The £350,000 project will replace the eyesore with a new market entrance.
Aberdeen City Council's corporate landlord Stephen Booth later confirmed that work is set to ramp up on the transformational project.
He said: "From now over the next two or three months you will see activity gear up and that hoarding will be finalised."
