Wood Group has secured a USD $1 million contract with Origin Energy to provide detailed design engineering for the onshore pipelines related to the Halladale, Black Watch & Speculant (HBWS) Natural Gas Project in South West Victoria, Australia.
The HBWS gas fields are located in the offshore Otway Basin in Victoria but due to their proximity to shore, and to avoid sensitive marine environments, they are being drilled using extended reach drilling (ERD) techniques from onshore location and tied back to the existing Otway Gas Plant.
The scope of work will see Wood Group Kenny (WGK) perform the detailed design of onshore raw gas and Mono-Ethylene Glycol (MEG) pipelines from the well pad to the gas plant. Construction of the pipelines is anticipated to commence in Q3/Q4 2015.
Bob MacDonald, CEO of Wood Group Kenny, said: “We are pleased to provide our onshore pipeline design expertise for this important energy project for the State of Victoria. The contract for HBWS builds on our strong relationship with Origin Energy in the region, and nationally, where we continue to provide engineering services in support of both existing assets and new projects.”
The work will be delivered from the Melbourne office but will also draw on specialised upstream pipeline expertise globally. WGK previously completed concept and FEED studies for HBWS to investigate development solutions before a final design was taken forward to the execution stage.
In addition, WGK and WGPSN support subsea systems, integrity management, commissioning and process engineering across Origin Energy assets in Australia and New Zealand.
