White House officials believe a trade deal with Britain can be finalised within three weeks, according to reports.
The Telegraph reports that an insider familiar with the strategy said London was in a good position for a rapid deal.
It comes a day after the US vice-president JD Vance sent the FTSE 100 surging by predicting Donald Trump would agree a "great" trade deal because of his "cultural affinity" with the UK.
A White House official told The Telegraph that meant an agreement was expected “soon”.
“Two weeks,” he said, adding: “Or maybe three.”
FTSE 100
The UK's flagship share index, the FTSE 100, was up two-points at 8,212 shortly after opening this morning.
Brent crude oil futures were down 0.42%, trading at $66.23 a barrel.
