J+S Subsea continues its expansion into the offshore renewables sector with its participation in Offshore Wind Growth Partnership’s WEST Programme.

The Aberdeenshire-based subsea controls specialists have completed the Wind Expert Support Toolkit (WEST) programme.

Providing specialist advice, market intelligence and business planning, the short programme supports companies in becoming more competitive within the offshore wind supply chain. Delivered by the Offshore Wind Growth Partnership (OWGP), it’s one of their business transformation programmes to support companies in realising increased impact, productivity and growth within the sector.

Managing director Phil Reid said: “J+S Subsea has a clear strategy to diversify our business into offshore renewables and demonstrate our existing capability in the sector.”

“The WEST programme has been really useful to assess our needs within offshore wind sector and formulate a plan to address these needs.

“The OGWP’s expertise with their advice and recommendations for next steps has been incredibly useful and will support us with our growth ambitions in the sector.”

“It has further underlined our commitment to grow in the renewables, decommissioning and other sectors as part of our journey towards achieving revenues of upwards of £10million.”

Offshore Wind Growth Partnership is a £100 million programme to accelerate growth and develop a stronger UK supply chain in offshore wind and encourages companies from all sectors and locations to participate.

It was established as part of the UK Offshore Wind Sector Deal and funded by the Offshore Wind Industry Council and is investing up to £100million in projects and activities that provide direct support to companies seeking to enter into or grow their presence in the UK offshore wind supply chain.

Since its inception in October 2020, the WEST programme has supported over 170 companies across the UK.

The WEST programme completion follows the news earlier this month that J+S Subsea has been granted Fit for Offshore Renewable (F4OR) status by the Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult. It has achieved the F4OR standard of having the required key management systems and competencies in place for success in the sector.
