Green light to grow Scottish market town with dozens of new homes
Councillors in Aberdeenshire have granted planning consent to Cala Homes for a project to build 95 new homes in Inverurie.
The £28million scheme at Conglass to the north-west of Inverurie town centre borders a neighbouring project which sold out in 2021. Planning permission was granted by members of the local area committee on Tuesday.
Cala will now build 40 four-bedroom homes, 31 five-bedroom homes as well as delivering 24 new affordable homes.

Only bank in New Deer to close forcing customers to travel 30 miles to nearest branch
The only bank in New Deer will close its doors for good at the end of the month.
Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) has confirmed the branch on Main Street will shut on Tuesday, November 26.
The closure will force customers to travel 30 miles to the nearest RBS in Fraserburgh

Post Office jobs and branches at risk in shake-up
More than 100 Post Office branches and hundreds of head office jobs are at risk as part of a radical shake-up of the business, the BBC understands.
Under the plan, 115 loss-making branches wholly owned by the Post Office could be closed.
The Post Office is looking at options including alternative franchise arrangements where another operator or third party could take on the branches instead.
Trump selects Elon Musk to lead government efficiency department
Elon Musk has been appointed to lead Donald Trump’s new Department of Government Efficiency.
The billionaire Tesla boss will co-run DOGE – which coincides with the name of his cryptocurrency Dogecoin – alongside Vivek Ramaswamy, a Trump ally and fellow entrepreneur.
Mr Musk said his appointment to the role “will send shockwaves through the system, and anyone involved in Government waste, which is a lot of people”.
