‘Aberdeen should follow Old Trafford vision with £300m football stadium mega-project at the beach’

A new £300million “mega-project” – being compared to the planned redevelopment of Old Trafford – has been unveiled for Aberdeen beach.

Labour councillors are today expected to lift the curtain on a plan to pump money into the stalling seafront regeneration, including a new stadium for Aberdeen FC and new public leisure facilities.

It would also take in work to revive George Street, if it were ever to come to fruition.

Apple takes legal action in UK data privacy row

Apple is taking legal action to try to overturn a demand made by the UK government to view its customers' private data if required.

The BBC understands that the US technology giant has appealed to the Investigatory Powers Tribunal, an independent court with the power to investigate claims against the Security Service.

It is the latest development in an unprecedented row between one of the world's biggest tech firms and the UK government over data privacy.

Former BP boss Looney joins climate-focused AI start-up

The former chief executive of BP has been appointed as chairman of ExpectAI, a climate-focused artificial intelligence start-up.

Bernard Looney, 54, has taken on a number of roles since he resigned as the boss of the FTSE 100 energy group after he was found to have not been fully transparent about his past relationships with staff members.

Last November he joined Prometheus Hyperscale, the data centre company, as chairman and is also on the board of XRG, the investment division of Adnoc, Abu Dhabi’s state-owned oil group.
