For the first time since it launched to the public in 2017, the Vanguard initiative is opening its doors to new recruits.
The initiative aims to challenge norms and inspire bold, new ways of thinking in order to write the next chapter in the success story of the Aberdeen city region.
Since the first call for volunteers it has seen people from a diverse range of backgrounds pool their collective knowledge, skills and ideas to devise, shape and deliver a raft of groundbreaking projects addressing some of the real economic challenges facing the North-east.
From the imagination-grabbing plans to launch a cable car connecting Aberdeen beach and the city centre, or create new green spaces in which to enjoy our fantastic environment; to boosting local businesses through Google-mapping and securing a dedicated full-time role to promote the North-east as a hub for the life sciences sector – it’s been a busy three years.
Now, as we enter a new post-COVID future, complete with fresh priorities and new objectives, the time is right to bring new voices to the table.
If you have big ideas, want to work with other positive-minded volunteers to make good things happen that otherwise would not, then we want to hear from you.
Anyone interested in finding out more is invited to attend an online event on July 28. Backed by the Chamber, Shell UK and Clydesdale Bank, the fun, friendly event will provide an introduction to the Vanguard initiative, an overview of the projects delivered to date by the team and progress updates on those still in the works, before the brainstorming begins to identify where the focus should be moving forward.
Free to attend, anyone interested in getting involved, making new connections, discovering new skills and helping shape the future of our home region, will then have the opportunity to sign up as a Vanguard volunteer.
