V0 qualification for Meta Casing Reconnect

Meta Downhole Ltd (Meta) is pleased to announce that its Meta Casing Reconnect® has successfully passed ISO14310 V0 qualification testing.

The Meta Casing Reconnect is a unique metal to metal sealing product that allows operators to replace damaged or stuck casing, avoid costly side tracks and lengthy fishing operations to allow them to continue with the original drilling program.

In addition, should operators embark on sidetracks, the Casing Reconnect will support metal to metal well integrity for P&A activities.

For the qualification, a 9 5/8” 53.5 lbs P110 casing grade of the Casing Reconnect was morphed to client specific requirements. The test was carried out at Meta’s in-house specialist test facility in Aberdeen, with the Casing Reconnect exposed to temperatures of up to 125°C, pressures of 8000psi, over 1.1 million lbs of tension and 681,000 lbs of compression with a zero leak criteria.

“The ISO V0 qualification will allow our clients to use the Casing Reconnect in wells which require metal to metal integrity, restoring the well for conversion to gas lift,” says Richard Craig, Meta’s VP of Sales.

“The Casing Reconnect is a remediation solution used in a variety of applications from casing integrity, stuck casing, to wellhead replacement and connecting subsea wellheads to surface. It provides a resilient gas tight metal-to-metal seal and benefits from flexible space out with no reduction in ID.

“We have installed a number of these products successfully in the UKCS and Norwegian North Sea, and following client demand for this product, we are currently qualifying larger Casing Reconnect sizes which will be fully ISO V0 qualified by the end of Q3 this year.”

The Casing Reconnect comes in sizes from 7” to 14”, with an extensive range of material grades such as P110, C110, L80, C95, and Q125, to suit various offshore applications, including HPHT and sour service.
