Gathimba Edwards Foundation (GEF) is gearing up for an exciting year of events in support of children and families in North-east Scotland and Kenya.
Whether you're a keen runner, a quiz enthusiast, enjoy a Ladies Lunch or would be interested in building houses in Kenya, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved.
Spring 2025
Quiz Night
Our quiz nights in Aberdeen are a chance to get your friends together for a bite to eat and a bit of fun while raising money for kids in Kenya and North-east Scotland. Our next event at Motif features the Speed Quizzing App, a popular monthly resident in the likes of Ferryhill House Hotel and McMinty’s Bar in Aberdeen.

Come join us for an opportunity to learn all about GEF's Volunteer House Building Trip to Kenya in July 2026!
Many people won’t have done anything like this before, but don’t worry, no DIY experience is required. The info evening is a chance to ask questions, meet others who have been on previous trips, and chat with some of the team, including volunteer project manager, Darren Cocker of Bancon Homes and charity co-founder Myles Edwards.

Summer 2025
Safari Series Races
Our Safari Series of races are family-friendly events; featuring a 1-mile run down Aberdeen’s Union Street, a 3K in Kingswells Prime Four Business Park and a brand new 5K route in Duthie Park. Whether you're racing to beat a personal best or just having fun, every step helps change a child's life.
Dates are as follows:
- RACE ONE: Duthie Park 5k and kids 1k sponsored by neospace - Sunday 18th May.
- RACE TWO: Prime Four 3k and kids 1k sponsored by Prime Four Business Park - Sunday 29th June.
- RACE THREE: Mel's Union Street Mile sponsored by Salus Technical - date to be announced. There will be three 1-mile races on the day: Primary 3-7, Secondary 1-6 and Adults.

Autumn 2025
GEF Hope & Fizz Ladies Lunch
One of GEF’s most glamorous and inspiring events, the Hope & Fizz Ladies Lunch promises an unforgettable afternoon with a delicious 2-course meal, inspiring guest speakers, and an exciting charity raffle and auction. All funds raised will support girls education, shelter, and wellbeing projects in Kenya and north-east Scotland.
