A £5million revamp of a Union Street office block could breathe new life in Aberdeen's Granite Mile.
Caledonian House - soon to be renamed Aurora Aberdeen - will be transformed by The SRE Group who bought the property in a reported £2million deal last year.
The exterior granite was given a deep clean last year and the group say they hope to have works completed on the old Wood Group building by the end of this year.
The cash injection can only be good news for the city centre, according to Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce Chief Executive Russell Borthwick.
"Successful city centres are built on one thing: People," he said.
"People living there, people choosing to spend leisure time there and people working there.
"In recent years we have seen a number of high profile companies moving into high quality, modern workspaces including the Capitol, Silver Fin, Marischal Square."
But he warned that the revamp is only part of the solution.
Its success will depend on “ensuring their staff are present as often as possible – to provide the footfall businesses in the area need," he added.
