The deadline for applications for the Apache Corporation Tree Grant Programme in the UK has been extended for an additional two weeks.
A number of nonprofit and local authority/government related organisations from across the North-east have already put forward applications to support some incredible planting projects for the 2024/2025 season.
However, there is still time to apply for a tree donation as applications are now open until Monday, August 19.
Founded in 2005, the Apache Tree Grant Programme has already donated over five million trees in the U.S. and the initiative was expanded to the UK in 2023.
More than 3,600 native trees have already been given to nonprofit organisations in Scotland, including Findochty Primary School, River Dee Trust, Camphill School Aberdeen, Belhelvie Community Trust and Beannachar Limited.
“Supporting the creation and restoration of habitats and enhancing green spaces in Scotland is critical work to help restore some of the tree coverage affected by recent storms,” said Jillian Owen, UK Country Manager.
“We have seen the benefits of the tree grant program in the U.S., and we are excited to work with partners as responsible stewards of the environment to plant more trees in our beautiful Scottish landscape and create a flourishing legacy for future generations.”
Applications are now open until Monday, August 19 for the 2024/2025 planting season.
