If our last announcement wasn’t big enough for you, we have two more outrageously funny comedians joining the Aberdeen International Comedy Festival line-up which returns to the city from October 6-16, 2022.

Legendary comedian, broadcaster and author Harry Hill and festival favourite Sofie Hagen have been announced as the latest acts added to the festival’s line up next October.

Hill who is currently on a book tour promoting his memoir, Fight! Thirty Years Not Quite At The Top is known for his oversized collars and sense of humour.

Making his Aberdeen International Comedy Festival debut Pedigree Fun sees Harry triumphantly return with his first solo tour since the critically acclaimed sell-out tour Sausage Time in 2013, with brand new jokes in an all-singing, all-dancing, one-man-spectacular. The former doctor and star of Saturday Night Live, TV Burp and You’ve Been Framed will have audiences in hysterics at The Tivoli Theatre on Monday, October 10 2022.

Harry Hill says: “I hadn’t realised how much I missed performing live until lockdown stopped me from doing it,” says Harry, “It’s great to be going back on stage and the good news is I am planning a very silly show.”

Audiences will meet Harry’s new baby elephant, Sarah, and Ian, The Information Worm.

Harry will also be joined by Stouffer the Cat (his famous sidekick) who commented “what can I tell you? When Harry calls you say yes – end of!”

With three BAFTAs, eight British Comedy Awards and a Perrier Best Newcomer Award to his name so far, comedian, presenter and author Harry Hill is one of the UK's best-loved, most respected and inventive entertainers. Harry was born in Woking in 1964, grew up in Kent and lived as a teenager in Hong Kong. He trained as a doctor, holds a medical degree from the University of London, and is still registered as a medical practitioner.

Making a welcome return to Aberdeen after performing at the festival in 2019 is London-based Danish Comedian, podcaster and activist Sofie Hagen who will also take to the Lemon Tree stage on Friday, October 7 with her show Fat Jokes. A show bursting with big jokes and fat punchlines, Sofie returns to her craft of devastatingly brilliant joke writing and storytelling and has created this collection of fat jokes and unforgettable moments that you can laugh at without feeling like sh*t.

The Edinburgh Comedy award winner published her debut book “Happy Fat” in 2019 and is the creator and host of the wildly successful podcast Made of Human and has hosted several other successful podcasts including The Guilty Feminist and Comedians Telling Stuff amongst others. Sofie’s streaming shows through lockdown were featured in The Guardian’s “Top 50 Stand Up Shows 2020”.

Commenting on the announcement, Adrian Watson, chief executive of Aberdeen Inspired, said: “We are pulling together an exciting line-up of top comedians for next year’s Aberdeen International Comedy Festival and we are delighted to announce that Harry Hill and Sofie Hagen have joined the phenomenal line-up so far.

“The Aberdeen International Comedy Festival has grown to become one of the big three comedy festivals in Scotland and has fast become a firm favourite in the north-east, attracting not just locals but visitors from further afield. Attracting a name like Harry Hill is a huge achievement for us and we can’t wait to welcome him and his oversized collar to the Granite City.”

The Aberdeen International Comedy Festival will run at a multitude of city venues, bars and clubs over the course of 11 days from Thursday, October 6 until Sunday, October 16 2022. The festival has been organised and promoted in its entirety by Aberdeen Inspired since 2016.
