TV broadcaster, explorer and marine biologist Monty Halls will be a guest speaker at an environmental event in Aberdeen next month.
Mr Halls, who is also a former Royal Marine and is best known for presenting the BBC series Monty Halls’ Great Escapes, will attend the E-Reps Forum on Wednesday, October 5 at Jurys Inn, Aberdeen Airport.
Established in 2012, the E-Reps Forum is a leading exhibition and conference for environmental professionals from across the offshore oil and gas industry. Tickets for the day-long event in Dyce cost £80 plus VAT.
Monty Halls said: “I’ll be sharing my experiences of the natural world, encouraging discussion among delegates about various environmental issues facing their industry.
“It’s vital that we protect the environment we live in and to understand what’s required for the planet and its inhabitants to survive. I’m looking forward to attending the E-Reps Forum and finding out more about the energy sector as a whole.”
Jill Rennie, founder and organiser of the E-Reps Forum, said: “We’re thrilled to announce Monty Halls as one of our key speakers.
“Monty’s knowledge and experience of the natural world is astounding; he’s visited some of the most remote environments on earth. I’m very much looking forward to welcoming him to the E-Reps Forum and enjoying his enthusiasm and passion for environmental issues.
“The E-Reps Forum is the ideal event for environmental representatives and associated stakeholders to share and discuss new ideas or find out about new processes, products and services.
“On top of the presentation from Monty, there will be a number of industry speakers offering their perspectives and information on numerous subjects – from dealing with drilling waste to changes in environmental legislation, as well as opportunities for networking.”
There is limited space still available for exhibitors at the E-Reps Forum, with packages costing £350 plus VAT.
This year’s forum puts the focus on improving environmental performance within the oil and gas industry and highlighting the issues of sustainability and efficiency relevant to the current climate within the sector.
Mr Halls is an award-winning television presenter who has also worked Channel 4, Channel 5, ITV, the Discovery Channel, the History Channel and National Geographic Channel.
After leaving the Royal Marines to pursue a career in expeditions, travel journalism and biology, Monty achieved a First Class Honours Degree and became qualified as a marine biologist.
In addition, he is also an ambassador for various conservation groups and was awarded an honorary Doctorate by Plymouth University.
