City centre resurgence as Shop Aberdeen attracts thousands
A new initiative aimed at “reminding people” about Aberdeen’s city centre stores has proven a hit – with a stampede of shoppers flocking to bag bargains.
Dozens of businesses took part in the four-day Shop Aberdeen campaign in an effort to draw more customers through their doors amid a “tough time”.
Figures released by analytics company Springboard suggest Shop Aberdeen has done its job – helping to boost footfall by almost 12% compared to the same period last year.

Upmarket Scottish estate agent reveals key senior hire
Upmarket estate agent Rettie has expanded its executive team, with Alan Cumming joining the property firm from Aberdein Considine in the newly created role of head of sales and financial services.
Rettie said Mr Cumming would “focus on growth and operational efficiencies”, noting its new recruit had spent two decades at Aberdein Considine, most recently as national estate agency director.
It added that the new role brings together responsibility for Rettie’s residential sales and new homes divisions, alongside Rettie Financial Services.
Oasis fans defrauded by scammers have lost £346 on average, bank reports
Oasis fans who have fallen victim to ticket scammers have lost £346 each on average, according to a high street bank’s analysis of its own data.
Lloyds Bank said fans desperate to buy tickets to the Manchester band’s UK reunion shows next year had been hit by a “landslide” of scams, with more than 90% of cases starting with fake adverts and posts on social media.
It said an analysis of scam reports made by customers of Lloyds Banking Group – including those with Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland, and where Oasis was referenced as part of the claim – showed “hundreds” of people said they had been defrauded.

Management buyout for Aberdeen firm Bon Accord Glass
Well-known Aberdeen firm Bon Accord Glass has completed a management buyout.
Four directors, Michelle Kinghorn, Danielle McAnespie, Ian McDonald and Neil Wilson have now taken over the Riverside Drive-based company.
It comes as Bon Accord Glass, which has a turnover of £6.5million and 47 staff, celebrates 50 years in business.
Burberry back in style amid takeover rumours
The struggling British luxury brand Burberry is back in fashion with investors after reports of a potential takeover attempt from its Italian rival Moncler.
The specialist fashion website Miss Tweed suggested over the weekend that the luxury skiwear brand might be considering a bid for Burberry with the aim of creating an “outdoor specialist giant”.
Shares in Burberry rose more than 7% in early trading in London, before the gain was pared back to about 5.8%.
