Tesco to raise wages by 5% but scrap Sunday bonus
Tesco will lift pay for its store staff by 5.2% but will scrap the extra pay for working on Sunday.
The UK's biggest supermarket chain said the hourly rate will go up by 43p to £12.45 from 30 March after reaching a deal with unions.
It will raise pay again to £12.64 from the end of August - a little above the UK national minimum wage which is set to rise to £12.21 per hour from April.
Audi to cut 7,500 jobs amid ‘challenging’ switch to EVs
Audi plans to cut 7,500 jobs as the German car maker scrambles to find money to fund the “challenging transition to electric mobility”.
The manufacturer, which is owned by Volkswagen, on Monday announced plans to axe around 8% of its workforce by 2029. The job cuts are part of a series of measures aimed at saving €1billion (£840million) a year.
Audi said: “The economic conditions are becoming increasingly tougher, competitive pressure and political uncertainties are presenting the company with immense challenges.”
Google parent in talks to net Wiz for $30bn
The parent company of Google, the world’s largest search engine, is in advanced talks to acquire Wiz, a cybersecurity startup, for about $30billion, potentially making it the technology giant’s largest deal to date.
Alphabet had been close to a $23billion agreement last year but Wiz called it off to focus on its initial public offering on the stock market.
The latest possible deal has not been signed off yet and could still change, according to The Wall Street Journal.
