Donald Trump's campaign has filed an official complaint to the Federal Election Commission against Labour campaigning for Kamala Harris in the US.
The former President accused Sir Keir Starmer's party of "blatant foreign interference" after Labour Party members travelled to the US to help the Democrats in swing states.
The Trump team accused the “far-left” volunteers of “attempting to influence our election”, and contact between Labour and the Harris campaign amounts to illegal "contributions".
However, the Prime Minister insisted that the volunteers were using their spare time and denied the action would harm relations with Trump.
Speaking to journalists, the prime minister said: “The Labour Party has volunteers, [who] have gone over pretty much every election.
“They’re doing it in their spare time, they’re doing it as volunteers, they’re staying I think with other volunteers over there. That’s what they’ve done in previous elections, that’s what they’re doing in this election and that’s really straightforward.”
Trump’s supporters have expressed outrage at the Labour contingent’s arrival, with Elon Musk falsely claiming it was “illegal” and Nigel Farage calling it “direct election interference”.
