Strategic advisory firm True North has appointed two new Senior Advisers.

Former MP for Banff and Buchan, writer and editor Eilidh Whiteford and award-winning author and former political adviser Andrew Liddle have joined the Aberdeen headquartered company, established in 2022 by managing partners Geoff Aberdein and Fergus Mutch.

Eilidh Whiteford was MP for Banff and Buchan from 2010-2017 serving as a frontbench spokesperson on International Development, Agriculture and Fisheries and latterly on social justice and welfare. She has considerable experience in the food and drink, agriculture, higher education and charity sectors.

Edinburgh-based Andrew Liddle is a former political journalist, senior Labour party adviser and, more recently, adviser to the US Consulate General in Edinburgh. He will lend his significant expertise in speechwriting and public relations, particularly in the financial and professional services industry.

True North Managing Partner Geoff Aberdein said:

“True North provides the highest quality of service to our clients delivering impactful communications advice, targeted engagement strategies and unrivalled political and policy insight, helping them position to succeed.

“We are delighted to appoint Eilidh and Andrew as True North’s newest Senior Advisers. They both bring a wealth of experience of a range of different sectors and disciplines and, as we continue to grow our own company, their contributions will be invaluable to all the businesses and organisations we are privileged to support.”

Eilidh said:

"I'm delighted to be joining True North and I'm looking forward to supporting clients to meet their objectives. As we emerge from what have undoubtedly been a tough few years, I hope I'll be able to assist organisations and businesses and be well-prepared to meet the opportunities and challenges ahead."

Andrew said:

“I am absolutely delighted to be working with True North which has already established itself as one of the premier strategic advisory agencies in Scotland. In a time of political uncertainty in Scotland and across the UK, it is more important than ever that businesses receive sound strategic advice and I believe my experience in the media and as a Labour Party advisor will help compliment the expertise of the team.”

They join Aileen Easton, Chief Corporate Affairs Adviser, who has been with the firm since last year. Martin Gilbert, co-founder and retired CEO of Aberdeen Asset Management and presently chairman of AssetCo, is True North’s business Ambassador.

True North is headquartered in Bon Accord Square in Aberdeen with established networks across industry, media and government. The company already supports over 15 businesses and organisations working at the vanguard of energy transition, financial services and food and drink innovation.
