'Trawlermen' star Jimmy’s new online venture takes seafood direct to customers

Well-known Peterhead skipper Jimmy Buchan, star of the popular BBC TV series Trawlermen, is launching a new online business supplying quality fresh Scottish seafood direct to consumers.

His web-based Skipper’s Choice fish box enterprise is being formally unveiled at the Pommery Dorset Seafood Festival which takes place this weekend (July 11 and 12) at Weymouth Harbour.

Mr Buchan has more than 40 years’ experience as a skipper working out of Peterhead and as well as selling the catch from his own trawler, Amity II, he is sourcing wild caught Scottish seafood from other local skippers he has known for years.

The only products not wild caught are his Skipper’s Choice salmon fillets, which come from selected West Coast freedom farms.

All the fish Mr Buchan is marketing will be prepared and vacuum-packed in insulated boxes by long-established Peterhead processors ready for next-day delivery to customers across the UK.

Mr Buchan said: “I am passionate about the Scottish fishing industry, and Skipper’s Choice is my way of spreading the word about the quality of the seafood we harvest and process, particularly in the North-east.

“This new venture is entirely online and allows discerning customers from right across the UK to sample some of the very best fish that Scotland has to offer.”

There are four sizes of Skipper’s Choice fish box — the 2.9kg Starter Selection at £49, the 4kg Standard Selection at £69, the 5.4kg Deluxe Selection at £95, and the 6.6kg Chef’s Selection at £115.
