Journeycall, a specialist customer contact centre servicing Britain’s public transport industries, yesterday (August 11) welcomed MSP Derek Mackay.
The transport minister was given a tour of the facilities and officially announced the opening of the new headquarters, commending the company for its service to the transport industry and celebrating the successful growth from three employees in 2003 to 286 in 2015.
From humble beginnings in Laurencekirk, Journeycall, part of the ESP Group, is now the largest employer in Arbroath and is hoping to hire more staff before the end of the year. The company services some of the biggest names in travel with a wide variety of clients including Transport for London, Stagecoach, Megabus and Abellio Scotrail.
The new facilities, costing £2million were designed around staff. By creating a comfortable working environment with collaborative work areas featuring IT and AV facilities, employees can deliver industry leading customer service. Most importantly, the new HQ was designed with space to grow as Journeycall continues to expand.
Theresa Wishart, managing director at Journeycall was on hand to show the transport minister around the new Journeycall HQ. She introduced him to some of Journeycall’s dedicated staff, both long-standing and new recruits.
“I am very impressed, the staff are extremely motivated and committed to their work. The excellent service provided by Journeycall is fundamental to the transport industry and I highly commend everything they have achieved in the last 12 years. I’m sure the future is bright for them,” commented Derek Mackay MSP.
The Journeycall agents can handle up to 600 contacts per week for clients such as Abellio Scotrail. Passengers contact Journeycall to arrange assistance for upcoming rail journeys by phone or as a request via the client’s website.
“It was fantastic to have the transport minister with us today. He gave the staff a real boost and it has been great to look back on what we have achieved and recognise that all our hard work is paying off. The commemorative plaque in our reception will be seen by all staff and visiting clients and is a real recognition of the contribution Journeycall is making not just locally but on the national stage as well,” said Theresa Wishart.
