Traffic restrictions during Offshore Europe

Temporary road closures and restrictions will be in place from Saturday (September 2, 2017) on streets around and near the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre for this year’s SPE Offshore Europe Conference and Exhibition.

The restrictions are in place to assist with traffic flow around the city and delegates are encouraged to use the park and ride from the Beach Esplanade, free shuttle buses from hotels, public transport, or share cars wherever possible. The Bridge of Don Park and Ride bus service will be running but there will be limited parking spaces available.

It is expected traffic flow will be improved compared to previous years as the £22.3m Diamond Bridge has provided an extra crossing over the River Don and local residents are asked to use the Diamond Bridge wherever possible.

As usual, additional car parks will be open at the Innovation & Energy Park close to the AECC however motorists should be aware there are likely to be delays in using these on exiting the event. Electronic signs will also be erected to inform motorists of the next available parking, when these car parks are full.

Aberdeen City Council co leader councillor Jenny Laing said: “Offshore Europe is a great boost for Aberdeen and we welcome businesses and delegates from all over the world to our city.

“We are looking forward to showcasing the innovative technologies that Aberdeen, as a global energy city, has to offer.

“We do have to put restrictions in place for roads near the AECC to help traffic flow and we would advise people to avoid the area if possible and find an alternative route, and for those attending the conference, they should use public transport where possible.”

A traffic.order has been put in place from 8am on Saturday (September 2, 2017) from 8am until 10pm on Saturday September 9.
