Touch of Love, a grassroots charity based in
Torry hosted an impactful two-day session on November 15 and 16, 2024, with over 30 young people in attendance.
Sponsored by ETZ
and delivered by Amber Music Group, the training provided
hands-on experience and essential tips to equip young people with valuable
skills for the future.
The session covered a range of topics, including video editing using CapCut,
communication techniques, presentation and interviewing skills, camera
positioning, and professional behavior for interviews. The aim was to empower
young people with practical and transferable skills that would help them build
confidence and prepare for future opportunities.
Each month, Touch of Love organizes diverse training
sessions for young people aged 11 to 24, focusing on boosting their confidence
and enhancing their career readiness. This particular session received
overwhelmingly positive feedback, with many young people describing it as engaging
and enjoyable. They expressed enthusiasm for applying the tips shared by Nicole,
the founder of Amber Music Group and the session’s facilitator, to improve
their skills in video editing, presentation, and communication. Others
highlighted the interactive and fun nature of the training.
Speaking about the session, Jane Akadiri, founder of Touch
of Love, described the training as both informative and transformative: “In an era where reports of antisocial behavior among young people are on
the rise, and with many heavily reliant on their phones for daily tasks, it is
essential to equip them with skills to harness their devices for positive
purposes. Media skills, especially those that can be developed using mobile
phones, are vital lifelong tools that promote creativity and productivity.”
She also expressed heartfelt gratitude to ETZ for
sponsoring the session, emphasizing its significant impact:
“The generous support from ETZ has enabled over 30 young people to gain a
transformative skill. This training has had a profound effect on our
participants, evident in their increased confidence, the quality of their
interviews with one another, and the impressive results of their video edits.”
