Students and staff at Robert Gordon University (RGU) raised hundreds of pounds for Breast Cancer Care this month by embracing pink.
A total of £943.36 was raised for the charity during The Big Pink Day which was held at the university’s School of Pharmacy and Life Sciences on Friday, October 19.
The event, organised by senior lecturer Dr Ruth Edwards and colleagues, featured a number of fundraising activities throughout the day.
These included wearing something pink for the day, selling homemade pink drinks, guessing the number of pink sweets in the jar and guessing what’s in the Big Pink wardrobe.
Dr Edwards said: “We had a fantastic day raising money to support women who are fighting breast cancer and it was great to see so many students and staff from across the university supporting the many activities we laid on.
“October Big Pink Day is part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month which attempts to raise awareness of breast cancer and how women can be ‘breast aware’ from an early age.”
Many of the Pharmacy students who supported the activities had breast awareness conversations with over 200 other students from across the university and distributed 100 Taking Care of your Breasts leaflets on campus.
