Another poll has put Labour on course for a comprehensive victory at this year’s General Election with more than 400 seats, but the North-east of Scotland is to gain more yellow than red.

Fresh data from YouGov has the SNP holding Aberdeen South and Aberdeen North, Stephen Flynn and Kirsty Blackman, respectively, while they’re on course for gaining West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine, currently held by Tory energy minister Andrew Bowie.

Mr Bowie's majority was slashed in 2019 to just 1.6% - less than 1,000 votes - from more than 15% in 2017.

The new constituencies of Gordon and Buchan and Aberdeenshire North and Moray East are set to be won by the Tories, who already hold two seats in that area.

Labour’s best hopes of a North-east win look to be in Aberdeen, but according to the pollster, still remain 5% behind in Aberdeen South, and 10% in Aberdeen North.

It’s a prettier picture for Sir Keir Starmer’s party across the rest of the country though, with Labour on course for 28 seats to the SNP’s 19.

YouGov interviewed 18,761 British adults between March 7 and March 27 – full poll results can be found here.
