Around 6,000 students got their hands on a bargain last night after an Aberdeen shopping centre hosted its annual Lock In event.
Bon Accord & St Nicholas welcomed thousands of people for an evening of discounts, music and entertainment, with students treated to hundreds of promotions and giveaways from around 35 stores throughout both malls.
As well as a range of discounts, guests were also treated to DJs and a pop-up bar by The Garage nightclub, as well as demonstrations from Pure Gym and G Casino. Ed’s Easy Diner, Yo Sushi and TGFS – all outlets within the Bon Accord mall itself – were also on hand to provide free taster samples from their popular menus.
Craig Stevenson, manager of Bon Accord & St Nicholas, said: “This year was a special year for the Lock In as it formed part of our 25th birthday celebrations and it was fantastic to see so many students from the city’s two universities and college come together to enjoy what was a great night.
“The student population is an important market for us at Bon Accord & St Nicholas and it is vital that we continue to think of innovative and exciting ways to continue to attract shoppers to both malls. The Lock In is a great way of adding something different to the shopping experience, alongside creating a sense of exclusivity and we’re delighted with how it has established itself over the last few years.
“Shopping is much more than simply turning up to an outlet and I’d like to thank our retailers for their enthusiasm and help in making the event such a great success. It was great to see so many happy faces and we look forward to hosting similar events at the centre in the future.”
Bon Accord & St Nicholas are at the heart of Aberdeen city centre’s retail sector, offering 840,000 sq ft of prime space and home to around 100 stores.
