Company Connecting has researched more than 10,000 companies to get the detailed information of 3,200+ IT companies on their database. Company Connecting completed the research on the Scottish IT companies in 2015. Recently the research team has concentrated on the Cambridgeshire area, and at the same time IT companies from elsewhere in the UK and overseas have registered and updated their company profiles.

- Glasgow with 535 IT companies
- Edinburgh with 534 IT companies
- Cambridge with 358 IT companies
- Aberdeen with 194 IT companies (281 in Aberdeen City and Shire)
Not surprisingly Aberdeen has the highest number of companies working in the IT sector i.e. out of 215 IT companies supplying products and services to the Oil and Gas sector, 125 are in Scotland, and of these 82 are in Aberdeen itself, and a further 22 are based in the North East of Scotland. Company Connecting recently published an interactive google map (shown above) and an infographic with an overview of all the companies on its database. The maps, graphs and word clouds provide a considerable amount of information e.g.
