The May Festival, organised by the University of Aberdeen, will run from May 27 – 29 and offers over 160 events exploring themes including literature, music, science, sport, film and Gaelic culture.
From famous faces and top performers to lively talks, debates and hands-on activities, the festival has something for everyone. Come and see actor and comedian Elaine C Smith, football pundit and broadcaster Pat Nevin and one of Scotland’s best ever long-distance runners, Fraser Clyne, take to the stage in the Granite City.
The Children’s programme is held on May 28-29 and it promises to inspire young imaginations with a fun filled family programme which is free for all children and families to attend. For older visitors, there’s a chance to engage with cutting-edge issues in health, energy and medicine led by experts in their fields.
This year the Festival will celebrate Scotland’s Year of Innovation, Architecture and Design and will also include a strand of events dedicated to the history and heritage of the region.
