The search is on for Scotland’s most stylish home and garden

One of Scotland’s largest home and gardening exhibitions, the Scottish Home Show sponsored by premium developer Dandara, today launches its search for Scotland’s most stylish homes and gardens.

The exhibition’s judging panel, including celebrity representatives, Tommy Walsh, Charlie Dimmock and Linda Barker are calling on Scotland’s homeowners to showcase their luscious lawns and inviting interiors, for the chance to win some fantastic prizes.

Rewards include overnight stays for two in Aberdeen, tickets to the Scottish Home Show, a celebrity meet and greet session with Linda, Tommy and Charlie, and vouchers to spend with some of the big brand names appearing at this year’s Scottish Home Show.

For anyone who feels they have a unique flair for interior design or the know-how to grow the perfect garden, are encouraged to enter online - uploading images of their rooms and/or gardens and explaining why their home deserves the judges’ vote.

Lucky winners – one for home and one for garden - will be announced at this year’s show, running from September 25-27 at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre.

Darren Ross, Director at event organiser, Xcite Media, comments: “We know from experience at the Scottish Home Show that people love their homes and gardens, and often go that extra mile to style them in a way unlike anyone else. We are so excited to launch this competition, giving applicants the chance to really show off their homes and gardens from all over the country.

“From Fabergé eggs and flying ducks to the extreme minimalist, everyone’s taste is different so it will be interesting to see what Scotland has to offer. The UK home improvements industry was worth a reported £5.5 billion last year, so we know there are some amazing and talented homeowners out there – and we want to hear from you!

“We are lucky to be welcoming an elite judging panel for this competition, which also includes representatives from Treehouse and Ben Reid. With entries accepted from anywhere on the Scottish mainland or islands, there’s no reason not to show us what’s behind closed doors!”

Peter Best, sales manager for Dandara in Aberdeen, says: “Knowing you’ve done a perfect job as you complete the final touches to the décor of a room, and the garden blooms just as you’ve always wanted is often reward enough - being named ‘best in show’ at the Scottish Home Show would be the crowning glory.

“For homeowners who have added their own twist to a new home, or those who have invested years in remodelling an older property and its grounds, this is a wonderful opportunity to showcase their individual talents, and become the envy of their neighbours.”

Deadline for entries is Monday, September 7. Finalists will be announced on Monday, September 14 and two winners will be announced at the show on Saturday, September 26. All work carried out in either home or garden MUST have been carried out by the occupants of the home and not by a third party supplier. Site visits may also be conducted.
