Team day out for community event

The team at Alba Power are gearing up for an action packed Halloween weekend as they look forward to the fourth annual Brechin ‘Halloween In The City’ cartie race.

Organised by community group, BRAVO Brechin (Businesses, Retailers And Voluntary Organisations), the group is a not-for-profit voluntary organisation who promote groups, activities and events throughout the region in order to grow and develop the historical Scottish city. As part of a variety of different, “… In The City” events, “Halloween in the City” comes just a few months after the well-received “Harley Davidson in the City” event in July. The event, which is held in the city on Saturday, October 31 is expected to have an audience of around 5,000 gather together to cheer on over 30 cartie teams competing in the 900m race, which includes the steepest high street in Scotland.

Gavin Brymer, Chairman of BRAVO Brechin commented, “We are delighted to see this fantastic family day out continue to grow every year and look forward to watching the competition again this year. Alba’s generous sponsorship has allowed us to add even more to the fantastic day, and this year we are looking forward to having a big screen on display to allow spectators to see full coverage of the race!”

As sponsors of the event, Alba Power, based in Netherley in Aberdeenshire have been invited to the large-scale community event where they can enjoy the family fun day from a VIP area alongside family, friends and clients of the turbine service provider. As well as cheering on the competing carties, Alba Power will also be taking part with Fleet Coordinator Steve Collie competing alongside his family with their entry ‘Bloody Marvellous’ and Sales Director, Campbell Archibald opening the race with a run down the course in last year’s winning cartie.

Campbell added, “We are really excited to be part of something that engages with so many in the local community. Last year was a great day out for the team, and we were pleased to join in the races and finish in a respectable position. However, this year we are looking to race ahead to victory!”
