Aberdeen architectural practice TCD Architects is making plans for major business growth following an unprecedented series of contract wins – including the commission to create a new landmark building for Aberdeen beach.
The award-winning firm has secured a series of projects ranging from master planning and detailed application works for a planned residential and commercial development with associated infrastructure to the east of Kintore, to major work on recycling facilities in Aberdeenshire.
TCD Architects’ director Alan Cromar said: “It has been a record-breaking time for us. We’re incredibly busy and delighted to be working on such an exciting variety of diverse projects.”
The practice has been given the task of breathing new life into a fire-ravaged prime site on Aberdeen’s Beach Esplanade, which will house a number of contemporary café and restaurant style units.
Client Rossnow Leisure Ltd has commissioned TCD to create the new café and restaurant facility building that will stand on the site of the former Jimmy Chung’s restaurant which was destroyed by fire in February last year. The landmark site will be transformed into a stylish modern facility with elevated first floor outdoor seating and huge picture windows capitalising on the sea views.
In Aberdeenshire the firm is creating the vision for the consortium of Malcolm Allan Housebuilders, Barratt Homes and Kirkwood Homes for the Kintore East masterplan development. The plans include a 600-home development, supermarket and commercial units together with a potential healthcare facility.
Further Aberdeenshire projects will see TCD involved in creating five new waste recycling facilities for the local authority through appointment from main contractor, Morrison Construction. The work includes an innovative living water scheme to purify gulley waste through reed beds for re-use by the council.
Another recently secured project will see TCD transform a former chicken hatchery into a 65-home development including flats and terraced housing on behalf of Malcolm Allan Housebuilders.
Alan added: “Like many businesses we have experienced challenging times over the past few years but these last few months have demonstrated the ongoing confidence in our expertise and experience, resulting in an unprecedented period of growth for us as a firm.”
“We’re looking forward to seeing these significant projects coming to fruition.”
