Tavish Scott appointed as visiting professor at RGU

Former Government minister, Scottish Lib Dem leader and Shetland MSP Tavish Scott has been appointed as Visiting Professor at Robert Gordon University’s (RGU) Aberdeen Business School.

Mr Scott said he is honoured to be appointed as Visiting Professor at ABS.

He said: “I am honoured to be asked to contribute to the continuing success of RGU.

“Politics and business are intertwined. I have helped the Business School students with the politics of oil and gas both at an international, UK and Scottish level. I will be delighted to assist the next generation of RGU's graduates with their studies.

“If I can shed any light on the way in which politicians and governments assess business and the wider economy I will.”

Mr Scott, who has an Honours degree in Business Management from Napier Edinburgh University, has previously owned and managed his own business and has extensive Ministerial experience of devising and delivering strategic objectives of Government.

He is also a member of the Scottish Parliament’s Public Audit Committee, Referendum Committee and is a member of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, and was a member of Lord Smith’s cross-party Commission.

Rita Marcella, Dean of Aberdeen business School, said: “I am delighted that Tavish has taken up this role Visiting Professor in support of RGU students. The relationship between business and politics is a very timely focus for research currently given the current economic drivers for change.”
