Kaiser Chiefs and Deacon Blue have been announced as the headline acts to perform at the Aberdeen Tall Ships festival.

The hugely popular event returns to the Granite City in July, and will see the construction of an enormous, 7,000-seater outdoor venue at Peterson Seabase on Regent Quay.

This morning, The Press and Journal broke the news that iconic bands the Kaiser Chiefs and Deacon Blue will headline the event, supported by Banchory-born Calum Bowie.

The festival runs from July 19 to 22, with Deacon Blue launching the music on the first day.

Ministry of Sound Classical and Tide Lines will also perform over the four days.

The Tall Ships Races have been brought to the Aberdeen for the first time in 28 years by Aberdeen City Council, Port of Aberdeen and Aberdeen Inspired.
