Offshore energy industry leaders, technical experts, and innovators will gather at P&J Live in Aberdeen on Thursday February 6 for the 2025 Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Conference to explore the evolving issues facing the North Sea.
Hosted by Offshore Energies UK (OEUK), the conference promises to deliver practical solutions and fresh ideas to safeguard the vital national asset of UK energy production.
OEUK chief executive David Whitehouse will open the event with a keynote speech emphasising the UK’s strong environmental and safety standards and encouraging attendees to embrace the opportunity to innovate and collaborate for a sustainable future.
He will lay out details of opportunities and challenges facing the sector which will be discussed in detail during the day. These include:
- The need to focus on the HSE agenda as part of industry’s licence to operate
- Providing reliable energy while meeting decarbonisation goals
- Driving economic growth and environmental progress
- Measures to secure the UK’s position as a global energy leader, despite fiscal and regulatory uncertainty
- Innovation to attract the next generation of the workforce
Speaking ahead of the conference, David Whitehouse said: “We are campaigning to raise awareness of the vital importance of this industry as the government strives to reignite inward investment.
“We must unlock the potential of our oil and gas reserves alongside renewables to ensure energy security and support this economic ambition.
“This is a particularly critical year for the North Sea with decisions on licensing, fiscal policy, and energy transition strategies set to shape the future.
“The debate on energy has been too polarised for too long. Now, more than ever, we need to work together to build a sustainable future, support jobs, and reduce our carbon footprint. That’s what this conference is about - finding solutions that balance our energy needs with responsible, long-term growth.”
The keynote speech will be followed by a panel discussion moderated by OEUK’s external relations director, Jenny Stanning. Panellists include:
- Marielle Inizan, CNS asset director, TotalEnergies – Sharing insights into sustainable fuel production and renewable power.
- Scott Barr, managing director, Harbour Energy – Exploring how UK operators are adapting to a challenging global landscape.
- Professor Lucy Easthope, disaster recovery specialist – Bringing fresh perspectives on resilience and innovation from other sectors.
The conference which is sponsored by Harbour Energy and TotalEnergies with support from CNOOC International, will bring together up to 500 delegates offering valuable networking opportunities to share innovation and expertise across key workstreams.
