The new First Minister has committed to taking part in a debate on our energy future, which Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce (AGCC) has offered to host.

His predecessor, Humza Yousaf, had said he would debate Anas Sarwar in Aberdeen "any and every single day of the week".

Mr Sarwar was seen audibly mouthing "bring it", before confirming to ChamberTalk that he'd be up for the challenges.

Douglas Ross has also written to both leaders calling for the debate, each of them, including the new First Minister, have now verbally agreed.

Speaking to the Press & Journal, Mr Swinney said: "I’m very happy to debate the future of oil and gas.

"I want to make sure the oil and gas sector has got a future given its pivotal nature in our energy future."

AGCC is discussing dates with party leaders.
