Rishi Sunak has accused the Labour Party of asking voters for a "blank cheque, without telling them what they are going to do with it".

The Prime Minister, speaking from the G7 summit in Italy, also claimed Labour's proposals would see tax rise to the "highest levels that we have seen in our nation's history".

Mr Sunak then argued that his party would deliver tax cuts for people at "every stage of their life".

He said: "You've seen two manifestos this week and there's a clear choice at this election.

"We published a manifesto that's going to cut taxes for people in this country, and the Labour manifesto made it clear that taxes are going to rise."

However, Sir Keir Starmer claimed that none of his party's plans would require tax rises over and above those that Labour has already set out.

The party has already committed to introducing VAT on private school fees as well as increasing taxes on bonuses for managers at hedge funds.
