Children’s charity, Denis Law Legacy Trust alongside Streetsport staff, volunteers and community helpers hosted successful family fun days in both Northfield and Torry over the summer.

The fun days, which have become a staple within their communities, are organised by local young people from Streetsport who take the lead in planning the day, organising activities and promoting the event to the community. Streetsport is Denis Law Legacy Trust’s flagship programme and is run in partnership with Robert Gordon University.

First came the Northfield Summer Fun Day which aimed to provide an additional Streetsport session for young people in the community with inflatables, football darts, BBQ, candy floss and plenty of Streetsport activities. Not to be forgotten, the day also saw the much-anticipated football match between a Northfield 11 vs Streetsport staff in which Northfield secured the ultimate bragging rights.

Next came the Torry Community Fun Day at Cruyff Court Neale Cooper which encouraged those attending to ‘wear a touch of pink’. On the day, there were plenty of inflatables, Streetsport activities and games for the community to enjoy. Also providing entertainment on the day was 360PhotoboothAberdeen, Citymoves, Outlines Collective and the RGU Boxing Club while Bev’s Ice Cream, Yilmaz Catering and Shot ‘n’ Roll all offered food on the day.

Like Denis Law Legacy Trust’s range of programmes, all activities over both days were entirely free to access.

In keeping with previous years, the Torry volunteers also arranged a stall with carnival games in aid of the Kacey Seivwright Fund, created in memory of Kacey to distribute defibrillators to local schools and kids clubs. In the end, the stall successfully raised £1,368 for a vital cause.

For all their help in bringing these summer fun days to fruition, Denis Law Legacy Trust would like to thank Leah, Abigail, Erin, Yvie, Marcus, Lily, Kelsey, Lewis, Aiden, Judith, Paige, Chloe, Dennis, Kailyn and Edyn. Thanks must also go to Scotmid Co-operative for their support and to Northwood Property for providing volunteers for the Torry community day.
