Nicola Sturgeon netted a whopping £25,000 fee from ITV for her pundit appearance in its general election night coverage.

The hefty payday was revealed as the former first minister updated her register of interests at Holyrood.

She provided commentary and analysis as the SNP hemorrhaged seats, losing 39 of 48.

On top of the £25,000 fee, Sturgeon was paid £2,803.78 to cover hotel accommodation and another £329.15 for car travel to and from the TV studio for rehearsals and the live appearance.

However, The Telegraph reports the £25,000 plus VAT fee was paid to her company, Nicola Sturgeon Ltd, rather than her personally, raising questions about the impact of that on her income tax.

Sturgeon is the sole director of her company, which is subject to 19% UK corporation tax on any profits below £250,000.

Ms Sturgeon’s spokesman said: “Nicola was paid the fee offered by ITV for her appearance on the election results programme and has registered it accordingly.”
