The former first minister has described a statement made by Aberdeen FC after eight of its players breached CV19 rules a "complete abomination", the UK CV19 Inquiry heard on Tuesday.

In a text shown while National Clinical Director Professor Jason Leitch was giving evidence before the inquiry, Ms Sturgeon said: "This statement - from a club that's just allowed its players to breach the rules - is a complete abomination!".

Eight Dons players had been spotted in a city centre bar in August 2020, a breach of the then-CV19 protocols.

It led to games against St Johnstone and St Mirren being postponed, however more texts revealed at the inquiry show Prof Leitch asking former sports minister Joe FitzPatrick to hand out a tougher punishment to the club.

"I think postponing rewards bad behaviour", he said.

"Cancelling and forfeiting the points seems much more appropriate".
