Shoppers at Aberdeen’s Bon Accord & St Nicholas Centres got the chance to feast their eyes on the newest fashions created by students at Gray’s School of Art as part of a series of pop up fashion shows this weekend.
Three collections of work by second and third year Fashion and Textiles students were showcased at 1pm, 2pm and 3pm on both Saturday and Sunday (March 26 and 27) at the Bon Accord Shopping Centre.
There were also a number of stalls showcasing the wider work of students on the Fashion and Textiles course at Gray’s, from haute couture gowns to knitwear and crafts such as scarves, cushions, cards, keyrings, prints and bags.
Stage 3 Fashion and Textiles co-ordinator, Rachel Heeley, said: “This is the second year that we have run this event and it has again been really well received by those out and about in the shopping centre.
“It is a brilliant opportunity for the students to showcase their work in the city centre and we are very grateful to the Bon Accord & St Nicholas Centre for continuing to support the event.”
She added: “The students not only design and make the outfits on show, they are also helping out backstage dressing the models, so it is a real team effort to pull it all off.”
Stage 2 student, Morgan Campbell, said: “It was so rewarding to see garments that took weeks to design and manufacture being walked down the catwalk and it's a great venue to showcase our work to the public. It was also lovely to be able to get to know people from different years and courses within Gray’s and RGU.”
Stage 3 student, Emma Owen, added: "It was great to be given the opportunity to show the public what we do within Fashion & Textiles at Gray's School of Art.
“It was a very busy and stressful weekend but it was so rewarding to watch everything come together and have so many people watch the shows."
