An event backed by Aberdeen City Council will bring together traders, the third sector and street musicians for a celebration of green living.
The George Street Farmers’ Market and Sustainability Festival is to take place in George Street on Saturday, July 7.
The event is being organised by the Greater George Street Traders’ Association (GGSTA) and was supported through the Council’s Fairer Aberdeen Fund and the Business Improvement District operator, Aberdeen Inspired.
It will run from 10am-4pm in the pedestrianised area next to John Lewis and Bon Accord Centre.
Councillor Marie Boulton, the Council’s lead on the City Centre Masterplan, said: “Regenerating Aberdeen’s heart is a team effort and we are delighted to be helping to support the event.
“The Masterplan recognises the potential of George Street and the Council is committed to working with the local community in exploring ideas for enhancing the area.
“Celebrating and promoting the distinctiveness of the city centre is very much in line with the Masterplan’s aspirations.”
GGSTA chairman Stuart Milne said: “It’s pleasing to report that arrangements for this exciting new event are progressing well.
"Third Sector displays and stalls with a focus on sustainable living will be in attendance too and the Multicultural Centre will provide street musicians on the day.”
The City Centre Masterplan is a 25-year regeneration programme that is transforming the heart of Aberdeen.
Its 50 projects include the regeneration of Union Terrace Gardens and the redevelopment of Broad Street as a pedestrian priority and potential event space.
