Stewart Milne Group’s “bike4forty” riders begin charity cycle challenge

A team of amateur cyclists from Stewart Milne Group have set off on a 730mile charity cycle which will take in every Stewart Milne Homes development in the country.

The “bike4forty” challenge, part of the company’s 40th anniversary celebrations, will see the eight members of staff travel 738 miles over nine days to raise funds for the Archie Foundation, Beatson Cancer Charity and the Christie Cancer Charity based in Aberdeen, Glasgow and Manchester respectively. The cyclists are aiming to raise £40,000 for the charities and have so far raised more than £33,000.

The team set off from Manchester yesterday (Thursday 7 April) and on their first day visited five of Stewart Milne Home’s north west England developments, along with the Stewart Milne Homes north west England office and the Christie Cancer Centre unit in Manchester.

On Saturday 9 April, the team will cross the border to Scotland where they will spend six days cycling across the country visiting Stewart Milne Homes developments. They will also visit the Beatson Cancer charity in Glasgow and The Archie Foundation in Aberdeen before finishing up at Stewart Milne Group head office on Friday 15 April.

The Stewart Milne Group staff taking part in the cycle are Aileen Beverly and Joe Morris from Aberdeen; Gary Milne and Alan Sneddon from Edinburgh; Niall Campbell, Patrick Gardiner and Stuart Henderson from Glasgow; and Manchester-based Stephen Daintith.

Ahead of the cycle Gary Milne said: “After months of planning and training we are very excited to set-off on the cycle. Along the way we are going to visit a variety of Stewart Milne Home developments and we hope that the residents and local community will come out to cheer us on.

“We would like to thank everyone for their support so far and ask that they continue to support us and help raise money for these fantastic charities.”
