Aberdeen Performing Arts is securing the future of its iconic venues step by step, with the launch of a brand new fundraising initiative.

Supporters of the arts charity are being given the chance to become part of the fabric of the Lemon Tree, by sponsoring a step at the city’s iconic performance venue. A space on each of the 25 steps between the Lounge and the Studio is up for grabs in return for a donation of £200, which will go to support the work that Aberdeen Performing Arts does for arts and culture across the North-east.

Aberdeen Performing Arts chief executive, Sharon Burgess, said: “The Lemon Tree means a lot to this city. It’s where people have laughed, cried, performed, celebrated, and come together. This initiative is about preserving that for the next generation. Every step sponsored helps us protect the memories already made — and create space for new ones.”

Aberdeen Performing Arts partnership manager, Emma Gartland, said: “We’ve always known that the Lemon Tree has its own unique personality, so we wanted to think “outside the chair” with a sponsorship opportunity to be part of this special venue’s story.

“We even enlisted the help of our favourite Step – Lee Latchford-Evans – during his recent visit to Aberdeen, to help us launch this exciting new initiative!

“Take a Step is the new way to show your support for the place that holds memories for so many people, whether it was seeing your favourite band or comedian up close, your first time onstage, or discovering the next big thing! By Taking a Step, you can play a part in making sure that these memories will continue to be made for people for years to come.

The sponsorship will come with a unique plaque beside a step between the Lounge and the Studio with a dedication that can be made in your own name, or that of a friend or family member, making it an incredible gift for a special occasion, or in memory of someone special.

The funds raised through Take A Step will go towards maintaining Aberdeen Performing Arts venues, nurturing budding talents, and ensuring that every performance is a masterpiece.
