Step Change in Safety, the member-led, not-for-profit safety organisation has announced the appointments of Alan McIntyre as Programme delivery manager and Nicola Mackie as digital communications assistant, further strengthening the organisation’s commitment to safety and digital engagement within the energy sector.
Alan McIntyre brings over 16 years of experience delivering HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) services to the offshore energy industry. His career spans various global regions including West Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and North America.
Alan’s previous roles include safety officer in offshore drilling, director of managed services and consultancy at RelyOn Nutec UK, during which time he project managed the reopening of their UK training centres in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and UK manager for Restrata, where he specialised in Emergency Response and Crisis Management. He has an extensive background in Emergency Management Training and was instrumental in coordinating onshore incident responses for high-profile clients. Alan holds a BA in Business Management from Robert Gordon University (RGU).
In his new role, Alan will oversee the development and delivery of safety programmes designed to drive continuous improvement across the offshore and onshore energy industry.
Nicola Mackie has been officially appointed as digital communications assistant following the successful completion of a one-year graduate internship with Step Change in Safety. The Robert Gordon University digital marketing graduate will play a key part in the delivery of Step Change in Safety’s communications strategy, focusing on enhancing the organisation’s digital communication efforts, and engaging the workforce, members and stakeholders through innovative online content. Her appointment marks an exciting step in expanding Step Change in Safety's digital presence.
