Sir Keir Starmer has congratulated Donald Trump on his historic victory following the US election win.
Downing Street has said the prime minister and the president-elect Trump have agreed the relationship between the UK and US is "incredibly strong" and will "continue to thrive."
In the first phone call between the pair, Mr Starmer offered his "hearty congratulations" and said he looked forward to working with Trump across all areas of the "special relationship."
A spokesperson for Downing Street said the pair also discussed the situation in the Middle East and the PM "underscored the importance of regional stability".
"The leaders fondly recalled their meeting in September, and President-elect Trump’s close connections and affinity to the United Kingdom and looked forward to working with one another."
The exchange comes after Donald Trump took a swipe at the Labour party and accused Mr Starmer's members of meddling in the US election.
Around 100 members of the Labour party travelled to the US to campaign for his opponent, Kamala Harris in the country's swing states.
The president-elect accused Mr Starmer's party of "blatant foreign interference" and filed an official complaint to the federal Election Commission.
