Stagecoach North Scotland is introducing six brand new zero-emission buses to its M96 fleet which operates between Aberdeen and Inverness.

The popular M96 service launched in June 2023 to provide our customers with express journeys between the two cities.

The Yutong TCE12 buses will be the first fully electric bus on the A96 route and will help to reduce Co2 emissions and contribute to a quieter and cleaner environment for local people and wildlife. They will also offer real time destination announcements and induction loops at every seat, as well as better accessibility for wheelchair users.

Stagecoach North Scotland managing director, David Beaton, said: “We are delighted to welcome electric buses to the popular M96 route. This reflects Stagecoach’s continued commitment to transition to a zero-emission bus fleet to help tackle climate change and provide a public transport system that is more sustainable and efficient.”

Stagecoach is on target for a zero emission UK bus fleet by 2035 and has introduced new electric buses across many parts of the country, including being the UKs first fully-electric city bus network in Inverness. The addition of these vehicles on the M96 will reduce carbon emissions on longer distance routes, as part of an ongoing investment into improving public transport in the area.
