The potential benefits of a befriending service to those affected by cancer will fall under the spotlight next month at CLAN Cancer Support’s monthly coffee morning in Inverurie.
The leading north-east cancer support charity will welcome Ingrid Penny, service manager for the Grampian area of the Marie Curie Helper Service, to the morning which will take place at CLAN’s base at 116 North Street on Monday, June 6.
Ingrid will share some information with attendees on the Marie Curie Helper Service befriending programme and how time with carefully matched and fully-trained support volunteers may be able to provide comfort to anyone affected by a terminal diagnosis.
Gemma Powell, CLAN’s area services co-ordinator, said: “At CLAN, we appreciate the importance of building links with other charities and we’re thrilled to welcome Ingrid along to our popular coffee morning in Inverurie.
“Ingrid’s talk is a great opportunity for people to come along and find out more about Marie Curie’s Helper Service along with what CLAN itself can provide to people in Inverurie and the surrounding area.
“Successful partnership working remains a key focus of the charity and we’re always open to working with other organisations to provide services that will ultimately be of benefit to those who are living with a terminal diagnosis.”
The coffee morning will commence at 10.30am with teas, coffees and home bakes being served to those who attend.
CLAN offers a support and information service every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 10am to 4pm in Inverurie at the Roman Catholic Church Halls on the town’s North Street. It also provides access to a range of complementary therapies.
