Multiple conference speakers have been announced for Topsides UK, Europe’s first and only oil and gas event focussing solely on extending the life of ageing topsides installations throughout the UKCS.
The two-day event, which will be opened by the Lord Provost of Aberdeen and other industry leaders, will include case studies from Amec Foster Wheeler, Apache North Sea, Cetco, Decom North Sea, Dräger, EnQuest, FourPhase Limited, Maersk Oil, Paradigm Flow Services, Score Diagnostics, Stork, to name a few.
Keynote speakers will present relevant case studies demonstrating where changed behaviours, new technologies and smarter co-operative working techniques have led to demonstrable success and enhanced bottom line results.
The conference dovetails the Topsides UK exhibition, running from March 16-17 2016 at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre. Organised by Xcite Media and with safety and medical technology firm, Dräger as headline partner, the event will also see over one hundred 60-second pitches from the topsides-related supply chain demonstrating how they have enhanced production, increased productivity or added value on previous contracts through either lowered cost or a more efficient way to spend money.
The event will also stage an Operators’ Networking Area, integrating an industry-first ‘Dragon’s Den’ style 1-2-1 pitch platform that will see supply chain companies pitching to a panel of operators on how they are addressing known industry challenges.
Whilst the Oil and Gas UK Activity Survey 2015 reports £9.6 billion spent on operations in the UKCS during 2014, it also states that some of the most expensive fields to operate on a unit basis now yield little production. Investment in existing infrastructure is crucial to the wider operations of the UKCS to ensure that these hubs are not prematurely decommissioned and this requires a concerted effort by all involved to avoid this happening.
Gavin Esslemont, Director of Xcite Media, comments, “Current industry challenges have strongly encouraged operators and supply chain companies to change behaviours and to address every day working processes in a bid to work differently and more efficiently – both in terms of time and money. Although it has taken a low oil price to push these issues to the fore, it has meant that there is now a real opportunity for the industry to come together, work smarter and co-operate to the greater benefit of the industry.”
Gavin concludes, “We are delighted to have the support of industry-leading organisations who are demonstrating their leadership and desire to working differently, something that is at the heart of our events team whilst they design Topsides UK to ensure it is unique, adds value and is absolutely geared towards engagement with the extended supply chain and addressing the ongoing challenges facing the industry.”
Michail Tzouvelekis, Regional Segment Manager, Oil & Gas at Dräger says, “Dräger is delighted to headline the first ever Topsides UK. It’s a great initiative for the oil and gas industry and we’re proud to be involved from the very beginning in what we hope will become a successful annual event.”
