A popular North-east family jeweller has almost reached the half way mark in its quest to raise £40,000 for charity to mark its 40 year anniversary.
Sinclairs in Inverurie has raised over £18,000 already as it forges ahead with a full programme of events throughout the year to generate funds for both Befriend a Child and CLAN Cancer Support.
The campaign has already benefitted from a range of events including a successful sold-out fashion show and afternoon tea at Meldrum House Hotel in May.
Last week, it was the golfers’ time to shine, when 18 teams came together to raise a further £7,000 for the total. The competition, also held at Meldrum House Golf Club, was a roaring success and has helped the north-east business remain on course to meet its ambitious target.
Organisers will now turn their attentions to the jeweller’s 40 year anniversary ball which will take place at Thainstone Exchange on Saturday, October 31. Over 20 tables have already been sold for the gala event, which will see guests treated to an evening of food and entertainment, with music provided by the Graham Geddes Band.
Ian Sinclair, owner of Sinclairs Jewellers, said: “The generosity shown by individuals and businesses within the north-east so far has blown us away and our golf event was another shining example of how people are getting behind our fundraising efforts.
“I’d like to thank Lesley and the staff at Meldrum House Golf Club as well as David, the club’s professional, for all their help on the day. The sun even managed to stay out for us which made it even more enjoyable for all.
“Our attentions now turn to our anniversary ball at the end of October. There are still tickets available for anyone who would like to come along and it really is shaping up to be a fantastic night of fundraising fun. It’s also our way of saying thank you to everyone who has supported the business over the course of the last 40 years.”
Susan Crighton, CLAN’s fundraising manager, said: “The fantastic amount raised at the recent golf day really is testament to the hard work that went into the event by the Sinclairs team and we are delighted that they are on course with their aim of raising £40,000.”
Lana Bambridge, development and resources manager at Befriend a Child, said: “The Sinclairs’ golf day was another smashing success. I have no doubt they will reach their ambitious £40,000 fundraising goal and couldn’t be more thankful for the time and planning that has gone into each event.”
Tickets for the 40th anniversary ball can be reserved by contacting Carol Mackie (nee Sinclair) on 07415 660 324 or by emailing sinclairs40th@hotmail.com
