Signal was thrilled to collaborate with Latvian energy services provider Aerones on an exciting project to produce a dynamic film showcasing its cutting-edge technology.
Aerones' robots, designed for the remote maintenance and inspection of wind turbines, have already demonstrated remarkable success onshore. The company has now developed an innovative solution to extend these capabilities to offshore wind turbines.
To bring this story to life, Signal's team filmed on location at ORE Catapult’s Levenmouth Demonstration Turbine. The brief was to document every step of Aerones' groundbreaking process, from deploying the robots to performing precise inspections and repairs and finally dismantling and leaving the site.
Capturing the seamless flow of these operations was crucial to fulfilling the client’s vision, as the finished film would be presented to the EU committee as a compelling case study on Aerones' pioneering technology.
Signal’s senior producer, Jamie Baikie, noted: “We have an ongoing contract with ORE Catapult, so this is not the first time we have filmed at the Levenmouth test centre, or even the first time we have filmed robots in action. But it is the first time we have followed the process of set up and operations of these technologies in such detail. It reflects Aerones’ commitment to detail and innovation.”
Filming required Signal's wide skill set and involved two intensive days of filming on vessels, inside the turbine, and onshore.
A range of tools, including conventional cameras, GoPros, and drones, was utilised to capture every angle of the action. The result was a film that highlighted not only Aerones’ technical innovation but also the efficiency and transformative potential of its offshore solutions.
Commenting on the complex filming requirements, Aerones’ media producer, Miks Ratnieks, stated: “It was an absolute pleasure to work with Signal’s team!”
This project provided an incredible opportunity to showcase innovation at its finest, and Signal took pride in playing a role in telling Aerones’ story.
